Cross-cultural clinical social work practice
editThis chapter aims to provide clinical social workers with an overview of key developments, conceptual approaches, and principles and processes for cross-cultural clinical practice. Since a considerable amount of specialized literature exists on this topic, the focus in this chapter is on the perspectives and processes that clinicians can integrate into their existing practice. Insights derived from the conceptual and practice literature and from the authors’ ongoing programs of scholarship and research on cross-cultural clinical processes associated with positive outcomes for clients are provided. An effort has been made to offer empirically supported theory in action. The development of theoretical perspectives for cross-cultural clinical social work practice is outlined below.
